The group I was with included a ranger, three workers from PSE&G and three women from the State of NJ's Endangered & Non-game Species Program. The gentlemen from PSE&G have to climb the electric tower (approx 150 feet), bag the bird and gently send him down to the ground. The bird is weighed and then measured to determine if it is a male or female (male in this case), then blood is drawn to test for contaminents and for DNA purposes. Then he is banded. One green band represents the State of NJ and the Silver is the Federal program band. Ginny Diehm
